Custom pet portraits are my favorite commissions to do! I love bringing beloved animal family members to life with paint. Each portrait is hand painted to order and based on a photo (or photos) you provide of the pet.
Prices vary, starting as low as $75, depending on size, complexity of the project, and medium used (choose from watercolor, acrylic or mixed media).
They’re a great way to honor your favorite pet, or remember those special pets that have passed.
And don’t forget those hard to buy for family and friends. (We’ve all got a few of them in our lives!) Giving them a custom pet portrait will save hours of agony and second guessing the next time you need to buy them a gift. (Just like that, the task is done!)
General Price Guidelines:
Because each portrait is unique, it’s hard to give you a standard price, but below are some guidelines to give you a good idea. If you’re interested in commissioning a pet portrait, and especially if you want it in time for Christmas, spaces are limited. Shoot me an email with what you’d like (watercolor or acrylic, the general size, the kind of pet, and when you need it done by) and I’ll email you back a quote as fast as I can.
SMALL ACRYLIC LIKENESS
This type of painting is a fun take on the likeness of your pet’s head and is painted on either a 4×4 inch stretched canvas or a cradled board. Small, simple embellishments can be added (such as a hat or scarf): $75-125+ (See below for an example).
These small acrylics are shipped for free (in continental USA)
WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS
Watercolor paintings are a little more detailed. They’re painted on professional 140 pound watercolor paper with professional paints. They come in a clear mylar sleeve with a backboard to keep them safe from bending. Framing isn’t included. (See below for example)
- 8×10: $250-400+
- 11×14: $350-500+
- 16×20: 450-600+
- For larger, email me what you’re thinking and I will give you a quote. Max size for watercolor is 24×30, as that’s the biggest paper I have.
Watercolor paintings up to 11×14 are shipped for free (in continental USA). Larger sizes will be charged actual rates for the size, weight and destination.
ACRYLIC PAINTINGS
Acrylic paintings are painted on stretched canvas or cradled boards. (See below for example)
- 6×8: 175-300+
- 8×10: 250-400+
- 16×20: 450-600+
- Larger: Ask for quote
Shipping free up to 6×8 in size (to continental USA). Larger sizes will be charged actual rates for the size, weight and destination.
MIXED MEDIA PAINTINGS
Mixed media paintings incorporate collage, pen and ink, and acrylic. They can be painted on stretched canvas (or cradled boards if smaller), or any wood surface (I’ve painted several on cupboard doors for example). Because of this, these aren’t always a standard size, but the sizes below will give you a general guideline:
- 6×9: $200-325+
- 8×10: 275-425+
- 16×20: 475-625+
- Other or odd sizes, email for quote
Mixed media paintings will ship free up to size 6×9 (for continental USA). Larger sizes will be charged actual rates for the size, weight and destination.
